Strive and Thrive - It's A First interaction Session of this year

"They say just living is not enough. You need little sunshine, few raindrops and a tinge of freedom to experience life in a life itself."

A day of a kind. My visit to a session, and a day when I jumped (in the air) after a good, long stretch (the last time was at school long ago).

To strengthen the same, bright sunny morning followed the refreshing rain.
While waiting for the session to begin, I took a momentary plunge to observe the preparation time for the same. Nischal, our Editorial Team head, highlighted few significant reasons of the 'interaction' session to every one of us. Usually, the session schedule includes of multiple tasks. This time, however, it was a assessment session. We only wanted to assess kids and need to trace talents in kids.

There was a unique exuberance in every volunteer who attended to session today. Oblivious up then what it was all about, what today session is about stays crystal clear in our mind.

Today's session offered me an insight of schools/Sahaya:
The organisational hierarchy in the Sahaya team starting with a volunteers, School Heads, editorial team & all the way till the core team is probably the reason how our operations school this year well be so structured, delivered and monitored. This hierarchy will ensured that decision making is decentralized but yet accountable without slowing down the program implementation. Dedicated volunteers to respective classes/Schools will increase the benefits of learning by children.
The World of Difference journey for me has been a Journey of Discovery.
Discovering joy, hope, positivity, contentment in every volunteer.
Discovering the amazing world of Sahaya that is touching the lives of children in such a wonderful manner and helping them take on the world with confidence.
All in all, it was a new day, in every possible sense. Our session coupled with interaction to many bright hearts. We returned renewed and energized.

Cheers,
Srikanth :-)

An Introduction Summary for the Academic Year 2013-14

It is relatively easy to look backward and recognize changes, but it is always more difficult to visualize what lies ahead. Perspective planning is needed because of its visionary in nature with almost speculative anticipation in the context of the constantly changing academic environments which is becoming increasingly unpredictable.

The restrictive effect of an excessive academic load often prevents the student to find time to engage in other worth activities. Here Sahaya is providing an ample opportunity to children for their overall development by organizing sessions once in a week to drill out their creative imagination for the future. The own use of and insistence on the use of good English, both oral and written, are considering as an essential part in the development of the student.

There are lots of aspirations in this academic year particularly to help the students to become cognizant of the changing needs by interpreting and implementing the ever increasing body of knowledge. Equally it is important to prepare the student, ideologically for constructive participation in the competitive events organized by Sahaya.

Attn. to Volunteers
A Volunteer must realize first of all that a handout can be taught as a liberal content and strive for the betterment from session to session. Such a process where the volunteer inspires his/her students toward creative endeavor and intellectual development not only while in School but the impact should be throughout their careers.

To achieve the above, volunteer should be endowed with energy, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest towards the sessions. To be fully successful, volunteer must exercise judgment and tact, and have the ability to meet the minds of his/her students and also should perform creative work whether it is in teaching or any other activities.

Following are the key points for the Volunteers to become “Student’s Favorite”
    a.Comprehension while interacting with the students.
    b.Ability to think straight in the application of fundamental principles.
    c.Reasonable skill in making approximation
    d.Confidence on originality of the concept.

Finally volunteer has to build up necessary information from not only with handouts but also with newspaper articles, magazines and any other resource to ensure the better interaction with the children. Perhaps the greatest challenge facing by children today is that of achieving a workable balance between academics on the one hand and personal activities on the other. Sahaya is trying to bridge the needs of the students to do well in their academics with the sessions they’ve on every Saturday.

Ultimately all the initiated plans should be carefully evaluated by appropriate monitoring mechanisms before they are launched. Finally, a strategy is prepared dovetailing with annual plans which are ready for the implementation.

Hope for the BEST....

MY JOURNEY IN SAHAYA

Its a great feeling that I have been part of Sahaya for 3 years and running towards 4th year :-). Am very interested to participate in events since childhood. But after joining in Sahaya, I  came to know that there is more joy n satisfaction in making children to participate in the events.Its been a pleasure to guide them through the whole process from choosing a topic, finding the inputs, what to do exactly in implementing it.

 My FIRST YEAR ::
                                      As I joined Sahaya at the time of Science fair event, I took only two sessions for children and later went a roller coaster ride with children for Science fair event. I could say that those were my best days till date. Travelling to narsapur with my co-volunteers was rather fun than risky. Kids in narsapur were highly talented n amazing. Before we could explain the topic completely, they used to come up with more innovative ideas.

Preparation for 2011 ::
                                        Keeping faith in me, our creative head gave me a task named “ Chart Sahaya ” where basics of English like parts of speech , tenses etc were clearly explained in charts . In the absence of our co-volunteers I organised a meet regarding this and it didn't go futile because of my co-volunteers ideas and suggestions.
                                           Next our core volunteers came up with the idea of  Flash Cards. Main concept behind this is that we grasp 80% more by seeing than only listening .Rhyming words, family members, week days and month names were prepared on flash cards. On a piece of  cardboard, on one side a word will be there and its respective picture is on the other side of flash card. Children were also quite interested learning in this way and this is also one of the quick learning techniques.

Second year ::
                                I was in contact with Sahaya offshore this year due to employment but with the regular updates in fb, got the clear picture of whats happening. Library setup was done in this year and I think it’s a great achievement since kids should have sources to guide them. Am glad that am part of this library setup as I have participated in the book collection drive in a college
                                 Things have changed this year. I could see more involvement of volunteers than core members. Field trip was conducted in Hitam college for second time in complete control by volunteers. Many new volunteers  joined who were very passionate to be part of Sahaya.

Third year ::
                            Collage event was conducted for republic day celebrations. In this event kids participated actively and showed their talent. Recently Maithri 5th annual celebrations were held at dholari dhani where everyone got a clear picture about Sahaya :: Journey, progress till now , things to be achieved, in addition to all these dedication and commitment of volunteers will be crucial part of success.
Finally in these 3 years I learnt ::

   L isten attentively
   E ncourage others
   A lways participate
   R espect u'rself and others
   N ever give up

Personaly n professionaly am benefited by Sahaya in many ways.
It’s a weekend stress out-buster . Spending some time with kids gives an immense satisfaction.
We learn many things while teaching them.
Increases your communication skills.

This year action plan is in progress, hope to see many helping hands to complete our missions in enriching the kids .
Thank you

Few Things Left Unsaid

From My Childhood I always wanted to be happy, whatever the situation is, and even the situation is something like the bereavement of a close person who was almost my life. But that was not the same in the case of loss of a close friend who was my Wikipedia, my Google, my oxford dictionary he was almost everything for me probably I was nothing without him.

I have never even had an imagination that I would lose him but on 8th June 2012 at 07:30 it happened, I lost My Father, The thing for which I’m still proud of myself is that I wrote my External exam on 9th June, And I stood as the topper in the final examinations. I still Remember the words of my father “I’ll Sign Your Report if you get first Rank in your class,” At that time didn't but finally When I did, I couldn't Tell Him.

But I'm Happy That I finally Topped.
After that everything has changed everyone were shed in tears, even today my mother cries for him. For One month it was not the same that used to be before 8th June.

Then Some miracle happened it can in the form of SAHAYA

Then suddenly on 28th July 2012, I got a call from Mr. Eshwar Babu 'the best volunteer of Sahaya' saying that I have to attend the session at ZPHS Gowdavelly, I was Very nervous because I didn't have any information regarding what happens Sahaya, But Eshwar who had utmost Confidence in me said You can do it. I was accompanied by one of my friends and I took the session for 6th class E.M. The two hours which I had spent with them were the best of my life and I still remember few of the students names who made a mark on themselves probably they were the people who stood as the reason for making my first session the best session.  After the session ended I left for my college, I boarded the bus and I couldn't get out of that and even my mind.

From that day I had a new life ‘SAHAYA.’ I would owe myself to the Society & be a part of it.

I would like to thank four people without whom there would be no SAHAYA & probably there would be no joy in my life after the incident & for making such a place for Elysian and believing in me that I could it & making this happen.

Without them I would not have revived back.

You might be wondering I said four people and there are only three people in the photograph, the fourth person is the one who took the picture ;).

As Stated In My Previous Article

Sahaya is place where you learn by Teaching Others

           I Urge all my Co-Volunteers to make their Possible Count towards SAHAYA & thus making their Story. Because to write a story it's not necessary for you to be an author you can be anyone. And in SAHAYA what are you doesn't matter, what is SAHAYA to you matters.

Thank You
Anirudh Kasibhatla

Steady Persevarance

The Clock is ticking towards fifth anniversary celebrations with mixed emotions by having more and more upfront challenges. However I feel embraced whenever there is an opportunity to meet all the volunteers at one place by holding all my memories together at a time.

Having been close to fifth anniversary celebrations, when I look back into the past, the responsibilities have grown twofold which are directly proportional to the benefit of each child. But this wondrous fraternity is building up with strong potpourri of experiences which can beholden on the deeds that we've gained over the last five years.

On one hand, I have felt time is passing like a photon while we constantly working towards more milestones in our Organization space. On the other, I feel it has been ages since we started SAHAYA because of the bonding we share with every patron especially with the children.

I do want to profusely thank all the volunteers where I feel that I am working with the bunch of best people I have ever worked with. Personally I would owe a lot to all the things that I had directly and indirectly learning from them.

My Core Team mates at SAHAYA, who are also a great bunch of Tutors and at the same time friends to me, irrespective of Age and location - Certainly they will continue to stay at the peaks in all seasons for all reasons. Rapturously I can say that with all your presence, my work at SAHAYA has been personally the most enriching one, sometimes on professional grounds too.

And thanks for being so patient with me and standing all the tantrums that I caused inadvertently(if any)in this long journey.

With Profound Regards
